Sixth-12th Educators are invited to join us virtually for the NASA TechRise Educator Workshop on August 27, 2022, 10:00-12:00 PT. Learn more about the challenge, high-altitude balloons, and how to develop a NASA TechRise proposal. 

Participants will be able to interact, brainstorm proposal ideas, and engage in live Q&A sessions with educators from TechRise 2021. Whether you teach Science and Engineering or are just excited about inspiring your students to get involved with STEM, 6th-12th-grade educators from all backgrounds are invited to join us for this event! 

Are you ready for this year’s NASA TechRise Student challenge? From environmental research to developing technologies near the edge of space, schools are invited to join NASA in its mission to advance space exploration and enhance our knowledge of Earth. If you are in sixth to 12th grade at a U.S. public, private, or charter school – including those in U.S. territories – your challenge is to team up with your schoolmates and develop an experiment idea for this year’s NASA TechRise flight vehicle – the high-altitude balloon!

Frogs, toads & salamanders, oh my! Allow us to introduce you to the world of amphibians. From breathing underwater to breathing air, these creatures are surely a wonder! Start off October learning all about creepy crawlies! From insects to arachnids, we will learn about what characteristics separate the two, mimicry and camouflage and compare butterflies to moths. After the lesson, we will meet some live insects, examine insects under a microscope, make a take-home bug and more! Included with Museum admission; Museum Members are free.

Come dressed as your favorite wizard and join us in our castle for the magic of wildlife and Harry Potter! Get sorted, make a wand, take a potions class, play quidditch, meet live animals and more during this fun event! Advanced Purchase of Tickets Online is Required. Join us Saturday, September 3rd from 10-11:30am to learn about pollination! We will learn about different kinds of pollinators and why pollination is important. After the lesson, we will make seed balls to support local pollinators, examine a pollinator with a microscope and more! Included with museum admission, museum members are free. No registration required.

When the lights go out and the doors close, everything in the museum seems to come to life! Bring your flashlights and explore the museum in the dark! Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. No reservations needed. Regular museum admission applies. FREE for current museum members! Lights go out at 6pm, but feel free to come early to see the museum with the lights on! We know it’s around dinner time so you are welcome to bring your own food/drinks to enjoy in our dining area.
