This year the Pima County Sheriff's Department will be giving out backpacks as a Drive-up event!  Pima County Sheriff’s Department is committed to our community. While large gatherings are not feasible, under current county guidelines, we have been resolute to find a means to equip youth for the upcoming school year. Here are some important things to note for the event:

As summer heats up, so does exciting programming for kids at the Fox Tucson Theatre under the KIT (Kids in the Theatre) program.  While various youth performing arts groups are warming up with workshops and other chances to practice their art at the theatre, the Midsummer Literacy Event will take center stage on Saturday, June 26 with two showings, the first from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the second from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

 Have you ever heard of SK Day? SK is an amazing female mathematician named Sonia Kovalevsky. Kovalevsky was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1850 and was the first woman to earn a doctorate in mathematics. The UofA hosted middle and high school students virtually for SK Day this year to encourage young women to study mathematics.

I attended the Zoom meeting about mathematics on SK Day. Team members from the UofA delivered a shirt and supplies to our homes prior to the event!
