Every fall, the U.S. produces over one billion pounds of pumpkins--and most of those are used for Halloween decorations and then thrown out. We can save this season’s pumpkins from the landfill--and have fun doing it!

The 2nd Annual Pumpkin Smash is a fun, family-friendly event focused on sustainable gardening practices. The event includes the chance to bring and smash carved jack-o-lanterns for composting, sample pumpkin-themed treats, and watch pumpkins launched through the air.

The event includes music, kids' activities, and opportunities to learn more about community groups, gardening, and the science of composting.

All edible pumpkins will be distributed through food banks and pantries. No pumpkins go to waste!

If you can't attend the event but want to compost your pumpkins, drop your pumpkins off any time between Halloween and November 4th. There will be well-marked bins for pumpkins outside Las Milpitas.
