The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) is asking the community to help send 50 pets home for the holidays over Dec. 20, 21, and 22.
HSSA will offer fee-waived adoptions, free homemade sweet treats, and gifts for every adopted pet over its weekend-long Home for the Holidays event being held at HSSA’s 635 West Roger Road campus. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 20 and 21, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22. Santa will also be available for free family photos for adopters from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21. The event is being sponsored by Stacy and Anthony Silva, who also rallied their friends to supply the treats and gifts.
“We have 115 pets who are calling HSSA their temporary home,” HSSA CEO Kristin Barney said. “They would love nothing more than to go home for the holidays with you.”
Families who can’t adopt can still help by making a year-end donation, and HSSA is calling on the public to help ensure the success of this adoption event and others like it. Through December 31, every donation to HSSA will continue to be triple matched, providing an opportunity for supporters to save three times as many lives.
“Please adopt or donate so we can not only send these pets home with loving families for the holidays but continue to serve even more pets in 2025,” Barney said.
