A special highlight: Pencak Silat takes center stage

Asian Festival returns to Mesa with a dynamic cultural celebration.

This year’s festival holds special significance as it features Pencak Silat, the traditional Indonesian and Malaysian martial art recognized by UNESCO as an intangible world heritage. Pencak Silat encompasses not just sport but also “mental-spiritual, self-defense, and artistic aspects,” making it a truly unique art form. The Opening Ceremony on Saturday at 1 PM will showcase participants from around the world, including representatives from the USA, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Canada, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Ghana.

There will be Free workshops on building confidence, self-defense, and self-control through Pencak Silat.

Asian Festival strives to bring people together to celebrate cultural diversity, promote peace, harmony, unity, and encourage a healthy lifestyle. This year’s festival is not only a platform for showcasing traditions but also an opportunity to foster connections within the community and beyond.
