Have you ever heard of Fat Bear Week?
Fat Bear Week is an annual tournament held at Brooks River, Alaska, in Katmai National Park and Preserve. The preserve stretches about 4.1 million acres. The event determines the fattest bear of the year in Brooks River. From Sept. 30 through Oct. 6, anybody can cast their vote to decide the fattest bear.
It all started as an event titled Fat Bear Tuesday in 2014. It grew into a weeklong contest a year later in hopes of raising awareness about wildlife in the park and preserve, the home of about 2,200 brown bears.
Isabella, the older twin (by minutes!)

First of all, I am the older twin by three minutes, but my sister was born a quarter of an inch taller than me. Though we have a lot of similarities, we actually have a lot of differences.
Did you know that April was animal awareness month? It is important that people help to take care of their community and other people, but we should also be taking care of our animals. You might be surprised by the important roles animals play in our environment.
For example, dogs and rats can be trained to sniff out dangerous explosives in the ground and bees pollinate one-third of everything we eat. Sadly, bees’ numbers are dropping and, since 1974, your chances of seeing a bee are 50% less likely.
The third annual boys-only trip to Bartlett Lake was fun! When my brother and I arrived, we went down by the shore and just hung out. There are so many things to do at the lake like boating, games, fishing, and hanging out by the campfire.
Our Gpaw came a little later with his boat, then our friends went to get their boat. When we went on the boat we jumped off the boat into the lake. (It’s kind of cold!)
