Valley Metro and the City of Phoenix are thrilled to invite you to a day of excitement, culture and community as we unveil 5.5 new miles of light rail with the opening of the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub.

Be part of history on June 7 with celebrations happening at three vibrant locations along the new light rail line – each offering its own unique flavor of fun, entertainment and local pride.

Light rail service from stations along the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub begins at 9:30 a.m.

Event timeline:

• 7:45 a.m. - Cruisin' on Central parade begins at Ed Pastor Transit Center (Broadway/Central Ave)
• 8:30 a.m. - Parade concludes at Central Ave/Baseline Park-and-Ride
• 8:30 a.m. - Speaking program and celebration begins at Baseline/Central Ave Park-and-Ride
• 9:15 a.m. - Ribbon cutting ceremony with daytime fireworks, followed by First Ride opportunity
• 9:30 a.m. - Light rail service begins along the entire SCE/DH corridor
• 10 a.m. - noon. - Celebrations continue at all three event locations
