On Christmas Eve last year, our four silly pug dogs locked my mother out of her car while they were at the park. The pugs stepped on the door lock inside the car and they were trapped inside and my mother was stuck outside. Her purse, keys and phone were all inside the car.

My mother started to panic since there was no one around to help and the dogs were becoming anxious. Luckily a jogger came by and asked if my mother needed help. The jogger said he saw a park employee and went to get him.

Have you ever been bored? I know how to karate chop your dreariness right out of your day! I am reviewing a book called “The Kids’ Book of Sticker Love” by Irene Smit and Astrid Van Der Hulst. It is a book of paper crafts with almost everything included. The only other things you need are just scissors and a glue stick.

The book is created not to be read, but to take the pages apart and create fun projects. I am going to share with you some cool crafts that I did from the book, and rate them.

Disney is known for always making amazing movies, but this might just be my favorite. On Nov. 24, 2021, Disney released “Encanto,” an animated movie about a family in Columbia which receives magical powers. Mirabel, the youngest child, doesn’t receive magical powers, but it’s up to her to save her family and their powers.

We talk a lot about space exploration, but did you know that we have not even explored 80% of the ocean on Earth? Thanks to companies like Seeop and their partnership with ASU on the Research Sailing Vessel Argo, students and researchers have new opportunities to access the ocean. I had the opportunity to interview some of the team about using drones and ROVs to learn more about the ocean and marine life.

Has your dog ever ran away or have you ever felt that a grown up doesn’t understand you? Well, teenage Addie feels your pain!

“Addie’s Sketchbook: Summer in Wellfleet” by Ruut DeMeo is recommended for tweens and above, but people could bend the rules and read at a younger age. It has some inappropriate language, but it’s not nearly as bad as language some grown ups use.

The book is written from the perspective of 13-year-old Addie, who is obsessed with books, reading and drawing. It’s silly, realistic, mysterious and adventurous; a general crowd pleaser.

If you have not watched “Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania,” you should. I highly suggest it. In this comedy the monsters are back, but not how they used to be. Say hello to change because these crazy monsters really get caught up in a mess when they turn themselves into humans!

This movie stars Selena Gomez as Mavis and Adam Samberg as Johnny. I would definitely rate this movie a four and a half out of 5. One of my favorite parts is when Johnny is a giant monster and Mavis still calls him “sweetie.”

Recently I interviewed a mineral collector, Lauren Megaw, from the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show. She had just returned from a geology work trip in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Megaw said she had a lot of opportunities to go to mineral shows when she was young and see some great rocks and minerals because her father was a geologist. She seriously started collecting minerals when she was six years old. Since then, she has continued collecting minerals. It’s been 22 years! It is surprising that her fun hobby turned into her profession.

In January, I auditioned for the play “The Prince And The Pauper, A Musical” at East Valley Children’s Theatre (EVCT). It is the story of two young boys, a prince, and a pauper, who look amazingly alike. They meet by chance and accidentally swap spots! Neither of them is quite sure what to do outside of their usual lives so, of course, chaos ensues!
