Being a part of the art community demands creative talent and unwavering dedication. While this may be easier for those who have been at it for years and have made an informed decision to be a part of, it can be challenging for a neophyte who is just starting out. This is where a nonprofit that offers art classes for curious people comes in—the Temple Arts Collective.
My family and I went on a thrilling adventure to the Canadian Rockies.
In the beginning, we went to Lake Louise in the Banff National Park. The water was a magnificent teal, and the lake was almost completely frozen over. During our hike, I thought I heard a helicopter. As we kept walking, I discovered that it was an avalanche! When we got to the end of the trail, we saw the snow that had fallen off the mountain and hurried back to the car.
I got a great opportunity to interview a former young reporter, Dee Catalan, a member of the Tucson Village Farm (TVF). Dee helps out with their program for kids. The TVF was formed in 2010 by Leza Carter and Elizabeth Sparks. It was made so that kids would learn where their food came from and to create hands-on experiences for them.
Many scientists, astronomers, and philosophers have spent ages trying to answer the question: Are we alone in the universe? Well, the newest Disney Pixar film is sure to answer that! Elio is a whimsical and quirky animated film that combines science fiction and fantasy, with a hint of fact.
In June, I participated in the Arizona State Jiu- Jitsu Championship in Phoenix. I competed in both the Gi and No-Go divisions. To prepare I had to practice every day. For one hour a day, I practiced moves such as the scissor sweep, take downs, and chokes. I was ready for the big day!
The event room was really big with lots of people. I got to watch a few fights before my matches. I won my first fight in Gi. For my next in the semifinals, I came in with hope but I lost. It wasn’t enough. I earned a bronze medal in that division.

Thirty-five years ago, my mom, Vanessa, attended Arizona Girls State. She talked about her memories of staying in the dorms at the UofA, learning about government in an engaging practical way and making friends that she still keeps in touch with today. It was truly a memorable opportunity that she was excited for me to experience.
Whenever India is mentioned on social media, people immediately tend to highlight the worst aspects of a truly diverse culture and country, saying, “Oh, I’m glad I wasn’t born there,” or “I can immediately smell the video.”
Despite being born Indian-American, I kind of believed what social media was saying, since I didn’t believe it applied to me. Growing up in America, surrounded by a blend of cultures, I never felt out of place. I was with Indians, but I was also with my East Asian friends, Hispanic friends, and anyone in between.
