“A Minecraft Movie” has been a big hit for the box office. This movie stars Jennifer Coolidge, Jack Black, and many more famous entertainers. The budget for this movie was around 150 million dollars, and in the U.S alone, it has made over 280 million dollars. On the day of this writing, this movie has made over $550,000,000!
Get a great start to this summer by enrolling in the "Color our World" reading program at your local library. The summer reading program starts on June 1 and ends August 1. It is an annual adventure with prizes, events, and ultimate experiences.
This spring, 20 Arizona high school seniors were awarded the Flinn Scholarship, valued at more than $135,000, which covers tuition, housing, and meals for four years at any Arizona public university, plus two study abroad experiences. I still can’t believe it, but I am one of these students. I am a 2025 Flinn Scholar!
Do you know how to play a musical instrument? The UofA offers classes for children from 6 to 16 years old. It is called String Project.
I interviewed the program director, Kelsey Nussbaum. She told me String Project started at the UofA in 2000. University students teach lessons, both individual lessons and group classes, that last a semester. Students show their learning at a recital. Right now, the program has about 60 students in four different levels.
Crayola Experience is permanently closing its doors to the public. Crayola Experience has been a big hit since it first opened at Chandler Fashion Center on May 23, 2019. It was the fifth Crayola Experience location to open in the nation. It featured roughly 19 hands-on creative activities in the 20,000 square foot space. Some popular activities were melt and mold, drip art, scribble square and cartoon creator. There are arcade games and a snack bar too.
Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona is an organization that has had a real influence and has a commendable mission. I had the opportunity to sit down with Tomas Smith, the director of process improvements at Mobile Meals. I learned about the purpose, impact, and future direction the organization wants to take.
The ¡Sombra! art installation is something happening summer of 2025 in Phoenix, where big pieces of art get installed into parks. Not only do these art pieces look amazing, but they also give shade for people who want to enjoy parks in the summer. This innovative installation is funded by the Public Art Challenge, a part of Bloomberg Philanthropies, which helps address local issues in cities. Anybody can participate in this project, ranging from international artists to civilians who simply want to help give shade to their city.
