There’s a great, new exhibit at the Arizona Science Center, all about poison and venom. On the third floor of the center, you will find an area all about the history, the different kinds, antidotes, and how to find different poisons and venoms. Though, at a first thought, you might not expect it to be the best thing to bring your kid to, but you’d be surprised by how fun it can be to learn about poison.
Yeehaw! Last month Tucson students enjoyed two days off from school for Rodeo Break. This tradition began in 1925 when the entire city shut down for the first Tucson rodeo. Since every child in town was in the rodeo parade or planning to attend it, schools did not bother to stay open.
I recently attended the screening of the movie “Dog Man.” The screening took place at Harkins Camelview in Scottsdale. Have you heard of the new “Dog Man” movie? It is currently playing in theaters and get ready to laugh because it’s super funny.
If you haven't read the books about Dog Man, he is part man, part dog and he fights crime in the city of Lakeville. This movie is an animated version. It is really cool and has awesome graphics.
Did you know our zoo is having a birthday soon? I spoke with Chelo Grubb with the Reid Park Zoo about the 60th anniversary plans. She told me that Reid Park Zoo was started in 1965 by Gene C. Reid. It started with just a few animals such as pheasants, peacocks and other birds. A few years later it grew into a Prairie Dog town and over time it grew into the Zoo that we know today. Gene C. Reid was Tucson's Parks and Recreations director in the 1960s.

In the summer of 2024, I spent seven weeks in the BIO 5 Institutes KEYS (Keep Engaging Youth in Science) high school internship. The training program aims to foster a close-knit community of students while allowing them to explore their diverse interests in STEM research. Although the process of writing, submitting assignments, and approval was difficult, I knew every day of KEYS inspired me with new knowledge and tasks that would help me to grow for my college and future career.
Did you know that over 53 MILLION people visit Disney World over the course of just one year? During winter break my family took a vacation to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
We visited all four of the different parks in just four days. We went back to the Magic Kingdom after the Animal Kingdom because we got tickets to the Mickey’s Magical Christmas Party. There, we got really cute Mickey bucket hats that were Christmas themed.
What is the Humane Society? The Humane Society is a place where people can adopt pets like cats and dogs.
The Humane Society also has special events like free adoption days, but that’s not the point. The point is that dogs, cats, and other animals are not getting adopted and more of them are coming in everyday. So adopting from the Humane Society and other pet organizations helps the community.
