 The vaquita (Phocoena sinus) is a small porpoise with black marks around the eyes and mouth. They are usually light gray colored, with white underbellies. They live in shallow waters in the Gulf of California, Mexico. There are only about 30 of them left! The main reason for this is that they keep getting caught in fishing nets meant to catch a fish called the totoaba. The marine mammal is the most endangered marine mammal today.

 I was very nervous when I arrived at Arizona Stadium. We went through the media elevator to the skybox. The hallways were crowded with journalists running through them. I started to get more and more nervous as I got closer to the skybox. And then suddenly there we were at the media entrance door.

Last year during the college football bowl game season, the UofA Wildcats in the PAC 12 conference played Purdue from the Big 10 conference in the Foster Farms Bowl.

The coach for the UofA at the time was Rich Rodriguez. The new coach for the Wildcats is Kevin Sumlin, who was previously coach for Texas A&M. Quarterback for the UofA was Khalil Tate. He set a record for most rushing touchdowns. Arizona’s best linebacker is Colin Schooler, now a sophomore. Arizona had a decent game because of kicker Josh Pollack.

Veterans Day is a day that we celebrate to honor those who have served in our military. 

 

Deborah Sanders, first-grade teacher at Arizona Desert Elementary is a veteran. Sanders is a retired military officer who served in the Air Force for 21 years. Sanders retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel.

 

“My career began in the military during myfreshman year of college. I joined the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at my school. I stayed in ROTC for four years and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant when I

graduated,” says Sanders.
