You can tell Luca, a new Phoenix-based magazine, is different the minute you see it. Christine Robertson, the CEO, explains that Luca is Italian for “bringer of light.” As you hold the magazine the gloss title does just that, it reflects the light. The magazine is different inside as well. Of course Luca is filled with the professional photo layouts and articles on fashion and make-up that are fun to flip through, but it is so much more. Robertson saw the need for a more positive message for girls and Luca is the result.
Two famous ex-Wildcat basketball players, Nick Johnson and Kaleb "Zeus" Tarczewski attended the Nick Johnson Basketball Camp at Sal Pointe High School in Tucson, Ariz.
Johnson and Tarczewski only played together briefly when their careers overlapped in 2012. At that time, Johnson was a senior and Tarczewski was just starting his basketball career at the University of Arizona.
For those aspiring to be fashion designers you must attend Tucson Fashion Week. I attended the October show that featured local designers and of course my fav, Richie Rich, as the headliner. What a night!

Well, folks, do you know what time is nearly here? Of course you do—it’s time for the science fair! First, your own school will organize a science fair and then if your project is judged among the best, your project is sent to Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Foundation (SARSEF) Science Fair. You’ll know if you got into the science fair by late February and early March.
Darrin Butters, a veteran Disney animator, spent a day meeting with bloggers and journalists in Phoenix, Ariz., on Friday, Nov. 4, to promote Moana, the new Disney animated movie set to be released this week in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Butters, who was born in Nebraska, was bitten by the performance bug at a young age, starting with puppet shows, magic shows and was active in theater as a kid.
Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks. It all began in November 1621, when the pilgrims got together with the Wampanoag Indians for an autumn feast, which is now regarded as America’s first Thanksgiving.
It has been an annual holiday in the U.S since 1863. Many people celebrate Thanksgiving by going to a nice restaurant or going to someone’s house to celebrate with the whole family. Some people even have a checklist that tells who is bringing what dish to share.
At the age of 86, former Astronaut Buzz Aldrin is going on a trip to the South Pole from Nov. 22 through Dec. 12, 2016. He’s already been on adventures down to the Titanic, to deserts, the North Pole and almost every other location on Earth. He also went to the moon!
The middle school he once attended in New Jersey has been renamed after him. So instead of Montclair, the name of the school was changed to The Buzz Aldrin Middle School/The Moon.
In October, I got to meet the Voice of the Wildcats, Brian Jeffries. I asked him a lot about the team and what it’s like to be the Voice of the Wildcats. I also asked him about his favorite sport and what it was like to go to his first national championship.
He says it has always been his dream to be the Voice of the Wildcats and that it’s kind of challenging to travel with the team. In fact, he actually doesn’t get to see the team that much. He says he loves all sports and that it was the greatest feeling to go to his first national championship.
