On Nov. 15, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson attended the ribbon cutting ceremony at Conchos Elementary Library to kickoff “Patrick’s Corner.”

Patrick’s Corner is an area in the library that consists of 1,700 books and furniture donated by the Patrick Peterson Foundation in conjunction with Scholastic Inc. and Papa John’s Pizza.

A Scholastic Book Fair was also held during the celebration and a $7 coupon was donated by the foundation for each student in the school to select a book for their own.

The Arizona Theater Company performed the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” in Tucson Dec. 3-31, and is performing the production in Phoenix from January 6-29.

I saw the show in Tucson on Dec. 3 at the Temple of Music and Art, and the performance lasted about three hours. This five-star performance was a joy to see and a wonderful experience.

The Harry Potter series has been magically upgraded with this new book. “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is about Harry when he is grown up. He works in the Ministry of Magic and is trying to be the best father he possibly can.

“The Cursed Child” brings back the best characters ever, such as Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy and, of course, the awesome Harry Potter. It is a fun story written in a script form for the play, but once you start reading, you barely even notice.

Ever since I can remember, I have dreamed of becoming a barrel racer. I have loved horses all of my life. I got my first horse when I was 2 and I absolutely loved him.

Becoming a barrel racer takes a lot of training. You have to have a trainer and a fast and well behaved horse. It takes a long time to find the right horse. If you are just a beginner rider you don’t want a crazy horse. You will definitely want one that is well behaved. Taking care of a horse takes a lot of time and dedication.

You can tell Luca, a new Phoenix-based magazine, is different the minute you see it. Christine Robertson, the CEO, explains that Luca is Italian for “bringer of light.” As you hold the magazine the gloss title does just that, it reflects the light. The magazine is different inside as well. Of course Luca is filled with the professional photo layouts and articles on fashion and make-up that are fun to flip through, but it is so much more. Robertson saw the need for a more positive message for girls and Luca is the result.

Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks. It all began in November 1621, when the pilgrims got together with the Wampanoag Indians for an autumn feast, which is now regarded as America’s first Thanksgiving.

It has been an annual holiday in the U.S since 1863. Many people celebrate Thanksgiving by going to a nice restaurant or going to someone’s house to celebrate with the whole family. Some people even have a checklist that tells who is bringing what dish to share.
