BOOK INTRODUCES KIDS TO TOPIC OF ECOLOGY

Have you ever heard of ecological restoration? If you haven’t, you should check out “A Kids Guide to Ecological Restoration.”  It is a book with information about the environment’s changes, natural and unnatural. It is written by Dr. Elise Gornish and illustrated by Daniella Cafaggi.

As you know, nature naturally changes based on what is going on in the environment. These changes are expected. But some changes are unexpected and caused by humans. This is where ecological restoration comes in. Ecological restoration is trying to make the habitat or area healthy again. This book gives good examples of ecological restoration, habitat degradation, and ways humans are combating the degradation. The language in the book is easily understood and is a good introduction to the topic if you have never heard of it before.

The beautiful art adds to the book even more, with before and after pictures which help you to get a better idea of ecological restoration. And in the back, there are two projects that you can try at home, including seed balls and bee houses. There is also a glossary in the back that you can refer to if you find a confusing word. This is a good introduction to ecological restoration and will help you learn more about the subject. I enjoyed this book, and it helped me learn more about an interesting topic. If you are a kid who wants to learn more about the environment, I recommend this book to you.
