MY TRIP TO LAKE HAVASU

My family took a trip to Lake Havasu for my spring break. The lake has an interesting history. In 1963, Robert P. McCulloch, the owner of McCulloch Motors, was flying over the lake. He thought that the land surrounding it could be good for a new city.

One of the main attractions is the London Bridge. This London Bridge also has a history. McCulloch and C.V. Wood, another founder of the city, thought the city needed an attraction to bring in more tourists. McCulloch purchased the original London Bridge (in London, England) for $2.46 million, had it disassembled and shipped to the U.S. by boat. These pieces were used to make the bridge in Lake Havasu that we see today.

The water in Lake Havasu is from the Colorado River, which runs through the Parker Dam. You can get on a ferry from Lake Havasu in Arizona and about 20 minutes later you will end up at a dock in California! My family and I were able to ride this ferry.

During the day we decided to rent a pontoon. When we were on the pontoon, we went under the original London Bridge! At night, we could see the bridge lit up in different colors. The city has many familyfriendly parks and beaches with areas to fish. There are many places that are good for hiking as well.

My experience in Lake Havasu was fantastic! For find more information, visit www.golakehavasu.com.
