WHY YOU SHOULD VOLUNTEER

I have been volunteering with my mom since I was 9 years old. Over the last three years, we’ve done all sorts of interesting and fun volunteering projects! We’ve bagged peppers at a food bank, sorted through old hotel shampoo and conditioner bottles to make homeless hygiene kits and raked leaves at a low income apartment complex.

One of my favorite volunteering projects was making beaded bracelets for an organization to hand out whenever someone gives them a donation! What I like most about spending time volunteering is knowing that I get to give back and help someone else out. I also get to see different parts of Tucson and meet all sorts of people that I probably wouldn’t normally meet. Volunteering has made me more grateful and helped me to see the world in a new way.

Because giving back is important, my family has started a nonprofit organization. It allows families to sign up for fun volunteer projects in Tucson that they can do together. You can check out Crafting Kind Kids at www.craftingkindkids.org . If every kid volunteered, Tucson would be an even kinder place to live and everyone would be even more grateful!
