Far from home and surrounded by the Red Sea, desert, and wild animals of East Africa—my teacher, Cailin Molina, began her 120-day adventure in the city of Djibouti [Juh-Boo-tee], located in the Horn of Africa.

Upon arrival she was greeted with a strong hot and humid breeze and a warm welcome from other service members. “From 2021 to 2022 the Air Force Reserves sent me to Camp Lemonnier, a U.S. Base in Djibouti City, Djibouti,” says Tech. Sgt. (Technical Sergeant) Molina, a third-grade teacher at Immaculate Heart.

This summer, I went on holiday to Western Australia and did many fun activities including spelunking! Spelunking is the exploration of caves, especially as a hobby. A speleologist is a person who studies caves or goes into caves. I toured a couple of caves and was amazed and learned lots of interesting facts!

Extremely colorful, fun, rainbow, interesting, vibrant and splash of color! These are the words I’m using to describe the Crayola Experience in Chandler.

When I first entered through the door, a staff member gave me a bag with two silver tokens inside. The first thing I did was a coloring page of a police officer. There were tons of crayons farther than the eye could see. All those different colors reminded me of a gigantic rainbow.

Most people think of Arizona as a hot desert landscape, but there’s snow in our state if you know where to look. Recently I went to Snowbowl in Flagstaff to go skiing. I had so much fun!

My family skied for four days on the amazing Mount Humphreys, the tallest point in the state with a base elevation of 9200 feet. I started practicing skiing on the very short beginner slopes. It’s important to learn how to stop and how to have your skis in a pizza shape to control speed.
