Celebrate Tucson’s Founding Day with us, as we offer FREE admission to the Arizona History Museum, Tucson on August 19, 2023! Open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., get out of the summer heat and enjoy walking through our cool museum.

Afterwards, you can spend the evening at the Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum to continue the celebration from 6:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Tucson Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), is offering a free, "School's Out Day Camp," for students on TUSD's Professional Development Day on Wednesday, Aug. 23. Camp will be from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. for children ages 5-11 years old who are enrolled at a TUSD school. Activities are supervised, engaging, and fun. Each child must bring a shelf-sustainable lunch, a water bottle, and two snacks. Refrigerators and microwaves will not be available for use. Register beginning Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 8 a.m.

Last fall, my family and I went to the 13th annual Tucson Comic-Con. There were many things to do. One we enjoyed most was the scavenger hunt. It took us all three days of the event to complete the task, but we did it by exploring Comic-Con, talking to people at the booths, participating in panel presentations, and talking to attendees, just like us.

PoeFest is celebrating its 15th year commemorating the works of Edgar Allan Poe, and you can be a part of it all at multiple locations throughout Phoenix, Arizona this October. PoeFest has been a labor of love for a decade. When PoeFest first opened, it did so to just six audience members. With a packed audience on the third night, they knew they had something special. The fest includes mainstage productions of Poe’s short stories every weekend during the month of October with Poe’s stories rotating nightly.
