Each contestant will compete by building and throwing their paper airplane. The farthest throw wins! The top three from each age group will compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Each contestant in the individual competition can bring up to 4 guests for free. The Family Contest is full. Lunch is provided.

Age brackets: 

  • 6-8 years
  • 9-11 years
  • 12-14 years

Individual contestants will compete in the age bracket they fit in on the day of the competition April 12th. Registration required.

Tucson Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Renewal by Andersen, Arizona Daily Star, Best Life Presents, KXCI, Cloud Microphones, and Groundworks to host the third annual Battle of the Bands on Sunday, April 6. Bands with artists between the ages of 13-18 years old will compete for the grand prize. Grand prize winners will receive a full home recording package, including Ableton Suite and a Cloud Microphone, in addition to a show promoted by Best Life Presents, and an appearance on KXCI’s “Local’s Only” radio show.

Easter Weekend, hop over to Reid Park Zoo for an ‘eggstra’ special morning of festivities. Hunt for eggs, enjoy a delicious breakfast and meet the Easter Bunny at Reid Park Zoo’s Easter ExtravaganZOO! 

The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt throughout portions of the Zoo. Bring your Easter basket or bucket to collect eggs, there is an age specific zone for joyful hunting for all.  Eggs will be turned in for a treat bag. There will be special prizes for lucky children who find the golden eggs!

Join the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association for our Annual Tucson Astronomy Festival. The festival will be held Saturday March 22, 2025 from 3 – 9 pm at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park Ramada 1, 3482 E River Road, Tucson, AZ. We will have family fun astronomy events to include safe solar observing of the Sun in the afternoon along with activities for the entire family. In the evening, we will have nighttime telescopes observing the fascinating universe we live in.
