Well met, my Lords and Ladies! I had so much fun when I went to the opening weekend of the 34th Renaissance Festival and Artisan Marketplace. The Renaissance Festival has a 16-stage theatre, a 50-acre circus, and an arts and crafts fair with over 200 artisans.
Have you ever been bored? I know how to karate chop your dreariness right out of your day! I am reviewing a book called “The Kids’ Book of Sticker Love” by Irene Smit and Astrid Van Der Hulst. It is a book of paper crafts with almost everything included. The only other things you need are just scissors and a glue stick.
The book is created not to be read, but to take the pages apart and create fun projects. I am going to share with you some cool crafts that I did from the book, and rate them.
In January, I auditioned for the play “The Prince And The Pauper, A Musical” at East Valley Children’s Theatre (EVCT). It is the story of two young boys, a prince, and a pauper, who look amazingly alike. They meet by chance and accidentally swap spots! Neither of them is quite sure what to do outside of their usual lives so, of course, chaos ensues!
On Aug. 10, the Senate passed a $1 trillion infrastructure bill. The House passed the bill on Nov. 12 and President Joe Biden signed the bill on Nov. 15.
This bill is special because it was a bipartisan bill. (That means both Republicans and Democrats voted to pass it). They agreed to give money to different states to help transit, build and fix roadways, and help clean up carbon emissions (reduce pollution). It will also help people who live in rural areas and also help people who live in rural areas and those with low income by giving them access to internet and clean water.
Do you ever wonder what a typical day as a Pixar artist would be like? For the October Bear Essential News Young Reporter Zoom Meeting, we had Paul Topolos, a matte painter who has worked at Pixar Studios for 20 years, as our guest.
Animating a movie is a group effort—Topolos mentioned that there are 1,200 people who work at Pixar Animation Studios! Topolos really enjoys working on good films with excellent stories and highlighted that Pixar is a good place to work because employees are taken good care of and the environment is very creative.
You’ve seen them around. They’re long, tall, and full of passengers. They are the Valley Metro buses! While you may have seen them, have you ever wondered what makes them run so smoothly? As it turns out, there’s a lot more to it, than meets the eye! We interviewed Valley Metro’s finest bus fleet maintenance specialist, Joey Templeton, to find out how it all works behind the scenes. “We have 209 buses here” Templeton says as we start our tour, “The first bus leaves here at about 3:30 a.m.; the last bus comes in at about 3 a.m.
It’s the perfect time of year for a movie full of spooky characters, and that’s just what you get in “The Addams Family 2.” This time they depart their famously haunted house and take their family adventures on the road!
The plot was packed with action, taking you everywhere from Niagara Falls to the Grand Canyon, and had lots of moments where I was falling out of my seat laughing. Not just for kids, my mother and grandmother also had their laugh out loud moments through out the film. This wacky and exciting story will have you engaged the whole 93 minutes it’s playing.
Did you know that jackrabbits have color-changing ears? Sounds fake, right? Well, I learned a lot of interesting facts like that when I visited Lily Urmann, the program coordinator at The Biomimicry Center at ASU.
I had a dino-mite experience at Jurassic Quest! It contains one of the largest collections of animatronic dinosaurs in North America. Due to COVID-19, Jurassic Quest offered a drive-thru experience at the Pima County Fairgrounds, which included an incredible audio tour, from the comfort of your own vehicle. Guests could enjoy over 70 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs placed in real-life scenes, with movement and sound. Each dinosaur was identified by name, region where they lived, identifying characteristics and eating habits. There were rows and rows of life-like dinosaurs.
Have you ever been on a Zoom with a gecko? I didn’t think so, but I have. Thanks to SciTech, I can learn all about STEM without having to leave my couch.
On “Things Tuesday,” I got to learn about Static Electricity and Heat Energy, how Plasma Globes and Radiometers work, and all about UV lights. How Plasma Globes Work was a great one, and now I’m working to convince my mom to buy me one. Also, on “Make it Monday,” I was inspired to get out my dominoes again, and I built a large domino chain reaction. Science Scattergories on “Fun Friday” was, as described, very fun.
