Composting. It's important and useful for gardening Compost is made up of different things we eat. But not just anything. To make compost you can use old fruit and vegetables, for instance beans, bread, apples, bananas, etc. You also need water to make compost.

Once you have compost, some of you may ask, “Why do I need it?” Well, compost is used for plants. When you add all the right food scraps, water and more, over time it breaks down and becomes a rich soil. The soil is then used to help plants. It gives them the nutrients that then help them grow strong and healthy.

I am American but have lived overseas and never gone to school in America, so am curious about the differences. I bet going to school in England is different from going to school in Arizona, so I will tell you a little about my experience.

In normal times, I would wake up at 7:30 a.m., eat breakfast, brush my teeth, then make the 10-minute walk to school from my home. Once I get there, we go into the classroom, call the register and put our coats and bags up. We start with maths. Yes, we call it ‘maths’ with an

People in Arizona showed kindness in different ways during the Covid-19 pandemic. I decided to use my time during the coronavirus lockdown to help our planet Earth. I participated in the Trillion Trees Campaign, a global project to plant trees.

This year I had the pleasure of participating in the 2nd Annual Wizard Run. The run first took place in 2018 in Joplin, Missouri. The run is 5K, which is equal to three miles. There is a 1 Mile Fun Run you can do as well.

When you register you can choose one of four packages; Broomstick, Phoenix, Owl or Crest. You can also pick one of four colors. I chose the Crest and my dad picked the Broomstick. My shirt was green and his was red. Along with the shirt you receive a custom wand, a medal and a number bib.

Milkweed bugs are my favorite bugs. Maybe you have seen them in your yard. They are red and gray with a black circle on their backs. The circle has two white dots, side by side in its center. They are oval shaped, with short antennae, and small, round eyes. Did you know milkweed bugs have wings, and are able to fly? The first time I saw a milkweed bug fly, I didn’t know what it was, and it scared me a little.

Over the quarantine time period I’ve been able to do things I was too busy to do before, such as making new recipes that previously took too much time to complete, learning fun new hairstyles, and picking up an old ukulele I hadn’t touched in years. I was also able to progress in several piano songs I had been working on for a while, and I’ve already started to finish up some cute DIY presents for my family’s birthdays!

Did you know that April was animal awareness month? It is important that people help to take care of their community and other people, but we should also be taking care of our animals. You might be surprised by the important roles animals play in our environment.

For example, dogs and rats can be trained to sniff out dangerous explosives in the ground and bees pollinate one-third of everything we eat. Sadly, bees’ numbers are dropping and, since 1974, your chances of seeing a bee are 50% less likely.
